Oregon's Solar Highway
Oregon is leading the way with solar power
Oregon is leading the "green energy" way with a solar highway. The project will have a 104KW solar photovoltaic system that covers 8,000 square feet and will be able to produce 112,000 KWh per year. This will provide 28% of the energy needed to power the project's location, which is interstate 5 and the interstate 205 interchange in Tualatin. The solar power will provide power to the grid during the day and get the equivalent amount of power back at night to light the highway. The project planners would like to eventually be able to generate 2 million KWh per year.
