Miami Florida Installs Solar Bus Shelters
Sun City Decides to Harness Solar Power
Miami, Florida is using the resource that they are most famous for--the sun, to power over 600 bus shelters. By doing this, they will be able to place their customer's ads and light them up without ever plugging into the grid. The shelters will save about 2 tons of CO2 emissions per year. With the obvious advantage of using solar power in a city where there is always sunshine, it seems to have been overlooked in the past, but the city and the company installing the solar panels, hopes to encourage other companies and individuals to use the sun and help their city reduce pollution. The only thing that may be a down side for this plan is keeping vandals from destroying the solar panels.
