Deep Cycle Batteries are Needed for Solar Systems

Batteries are a very important component to a stand alone renewable energy system. If you install a system, including solar, wind, or hydroelectric, it is important to have a way to store the power. Otherwise, you can only use it as it is produced. Batteries help store the energy for power outages or other large draw days. In renewable systems, deep cycle batteries are best. Unlike car batteries, these batteries are meant to be discharged and recharged (cycled) regularly. But, they should be limited to discharging 20%. Or still 80% full. You can install a warning alarm to let you know it is going lower. Also, inverters can have sensors that will switch to the grid in case of a heavy load.
