Free Solar Pro - Wind and Solar Power
Using Solar Power and Wind Power both as a power source
Some people opt to use more than one alternative power source. Wind power is a good option to add to your solar system. Then, you get the best of both worlds, nice warm sunny days give you solar power and those extra windy times give you wind power. If you use a battery bank system, the solar can recharge the batteries during the day and on those windy nights, the wind can help.
One thing to remember, though, is not to shut off the wind driven generator as soon as the batteries are charged. This can cause over speed to the free turning blades and damage them. To avoid this, some wind power systems contain a "diversion load" control. This automatically diverts power to a second load. This can be used for heating water. It will give you free hot water and keep the system under a constant load.Tags: Wind, Battery, Generator, Hot Water
