President Bush Supports Solar Power

Solar Power is Used at the White House

In 2003, President Bush took a step to make the White House a little "greener". A nine-kilowatt-hour photovoltaic system was installed on the grounds keeping building for the National Park Service. There were 167 panels placed on the top of the main building used for grounds keeping at the White House. The PV system feeds directly into the grounds distribution system, feeding electricity wherever it is needed.

They also installed two solar thermal systems to heat the spa and pool and one to heat the water inside the White House. The entire system was installed in just three days.
